چکیده

This research aimed at ascertaining the performance of raw dura species Palm Kernel Shells (PKS) in comparison to a different PKS (tenera) as replacement for known aggregates pervious lightweight concrete. Using limestones aggregates, control concrete was batched, and relevant tests were conducted. Major conducted on composites concerned compressive, tensile, flexural strength, well permeability, densities, absorption. Logistic constraints transporting dura-PKS limited quantity needed ascertain variety replacements dura-PKS. With 25% be most suitable ratio related investigations, we adopted that compared extreme 100% The revealed by resulted high porosity although resistances compression, tension, loads read low same mixture. Instead, yielded optimum water permeability rate compressive stresses. However, flakiness index recorded almost half tenera not reflected mechanical properties results gave relatively lower strengths. case do differ significantly tenera-PKS terms strength permeability.

Effects of Oil Palm Shell Coarse Aggregate Species on High Strength Lightweight Concrete

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different species of oil palm shell (OPS) coarse aggregates on the properties of high strength lightweight concrete (HSLWC). Original and crushed OPS coarse aggregates of different species and age categories were investigated in this study. The research focused on two OPS species (dura and tenera), in which the coarse aggregates were...

Prediction of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete Compressive Strength

Nowadays, the better performance of lightweight structures during earthquake has resulted in using lightweight concrete more than ever. However, determining the compressive strength of concrete used in these structures during their service through a none-destructive test is a popular and useful method.  One of the main methods of non-destructive testing in the assessment of compressive strength...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Effect of aggregate size and proportion on strength properties of palm kernel shell concrete

This paper presents information on the physical and mechanical properties of different sizes of palm kernel shells (PKS) used here as lightweight aggregates (LWA) and their influence on mechanical properties of palm kernel shell concrete (PKSC). Silica fume and fly ash were used as cementitious materials and all mixes had 1% superplasticizer on cement weight. It has been found that PKS consists...
